New Year’s Awakening

The outside of the curtains was still in darkness when I woke up and looked at the clock; it was only 6 AM.

I thought it was 6 in the evening, but it was morning.

It feels like a typical New Year’s life.

I stayed in bed listening to crime dramas continuously on U-NEXT.

Unusually, I had a good sleep.

Yesterday, I bought a zodiac tie at a long-established store in Ginza.

At the department store, I bought a fragrance lucky bag.

It’s my annual New Year’s tradition.

In the past, I think movie theaters and department stores were open from New Year’s Day.

The purpose was the lucky bags.

Furthermore, you had to line up outside the department store for about an hour.

That’s how much of a deal and a bargain it was.

Now, you can apply for them online starting in December.

This takes away the sense of gratitude.

In Yurakucho, there used to be Sogo Department Store, Seibu Department Store, and Hankyu Department Store, but that feels like a long time ago.

In Ginza, Matsuzakaya has become Ginza 6.

The remaining Ginza Matsuya now starts New Year’s business from the 3rd of the year, so I went to Taya Neckwear and Ginza Mitsukoshi.

At lunch, I stopped by the movie theater.

It was nearly empty.

New Year’s Day movie theaters are no longer a special occasion.

Of course, there were no people wearing traditional Japanese clothing.

I also wore a tie, but with a casual jacket, so it was comfortable.

The movie was The Lion King in Dolby Theater, but even with the impressive sound, I was nearly asleep.

It wasn’t because I was tired, but because the movie theater environment was incredibly comfortable for me.

There are still three days left until work starts.

It seems difficult to return to society.

Last year began with the Noto earthquake.

I’m thinking about the Thunderbird activity plans for this year.

Blood sugar: 109

I’m drinking green tea, black tea, and burdock tea simultaneously.
