Newspaper to watch

I enjoy reading the newspaper.

Since elementary school, I have been a regular reader of newspapers for children.

Perhaps it was because of the science fiction robot comics by Shotaro Ishimori that were serialized in those newspapers.

Even as a middle school student, I used to cut out the “Tensei Jingo" column and, like Sherlock Holmes, would cut out the “Visitors" section and create a scrapbook.

Although, like Holmes, I never found any incidents from there.

Even back in middle school, I would follow the stock listings, thinking it might help me study economics.

It didn’t really help me study, though.

Even now, when I stay at a local hotel on a business trip, the first thing I do at breakfast is pick up the local newspaper.

It’s interesting.

There’s always something to discover in the local, regional articles.

I’m drawn to paper newspapers, but since I started living alone, it became difficult to manage the trash, so I switched to online subscriptions.

It arrives at 2:30 in the morning.

I read it on my iPad in bed.

It’s convenient, and it’s now hard to spread out a physical newspaper.

What’s great about online newspapers is that you can read local editions from all over the country.

This, too, is interesting.

A lot of the topics for these diary entries come from there.

I don’t usually read articles carefully.

It’s like watching TV — I just glance through the whole article.

I’m not particularly interested in the details.

From the big headlines, I form my own knowledge, ideas, analyses, and guesses about the future.

Some of that becomes material for this diary.

It may also be because I’ve developed presbyopia.

For me, newspaper articles are like a mirror reflecting my inner thoughts.

That’s how it is for me.

Blood sugar 134. For some reason, I have no appetite this morning. Should I understand this as finally having a properly functioning stomach?
